Sheriff's annual charity event set Sept. 7

PRESTONSBURG — Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt will host his fifth annual charity golf scramble on Sept. 7 at 9 a.m., at the Beaver Valley Golf Course with a shotgun start.The money raised during the event will be used to assist various charities throughout the county.The cost to enter the event is $300 for a team, $300 to sponsor a hole or $450 for both.Team prizes include $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $300 for third place.Various raffle prizes will be included again this year, a release issued by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said.Refreshments will include grilled hamburgers, BBQ pulled pork and BBQ pulled chicken, with various side dishes, the release said.COVID-19 safety precuations will be observed throughout the event.Call (606) 886-8965 to obtain a registration/sponsorship form.For those who cannot participate but want to be a part of the event, donations will be accepted and checks can be made payable to the John P. Hunt Foundation and mailed to Floyd County Sheriff, P.O. Box 152, Prestonsburg, Ky. 41653.
