Pike Central shuts out Paintsville 10-0

BELFRY — Behind strong pitching from Chloe Hannah, Pike County Central shut out Paintsville 10-0 in five innings in the opening round of the 15th Region Softball Tournament at Massey Energy Field on Monday, May 30.

Hannah earned the win in the circle for Pike County Central, pitching a two-hit shutout.

Paintsville pitcher Laney Bledsoe took the loss in the circle.

Pike County Central set the tone early, plating one run in the bottom half of the first inning.

The Lady Hawks led 4-0 at the conclusion of the third inning, forcing Paintsville to continue to play from behind throughout the remainder of the postseason high school softball matchup.

Pike County Central erupted for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to move ahead 10-0.

Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Hannah delivered two doubles and two RBIs.

Following the pitcher’s offensive performance, Sydney Thompson (two hits, two RBIs), Taylor Hannah (two hits, one RBI), Emalie Tackett (one hit, one RBI) and Abby Hess (one hit, one RBI) produced at the plate for the Lady Hawks.

Bledsoe and Ashley Wells provided Paintsville’s offense, delivering one single each for the Lady Tigers.

Defensively, Paintsville committed three errors.

The loss eliminated Paintsville (13-17) from the 15th Region Softball Tournament.
