Martin County tabbed 20th in preseason Class 2A rankings

INEZ — Martin County is ranked 20th in the Preseason CalPreps.com Class 2A Rankings.
The Cardinals are ranked ahead of Hancock County (21), Leslie County (22), Trimble County (23), Todd County Central (24), Clinton County (25), Carroll County (26), Monroe County (27), Prestonsburg (28), Bath County (29), Owen County (30), Metcalfe County (31), Butler County (32), Green County (33), Fort Campbell (34), Knott County Central (35), East Ridge (36), Morgan County (37), Gallatin County (38), Ballard Memorial (39) and Shawnee (40). Martin County is listed behind Walton-Verona (19), Covington Holy Cross (18), Edmonson County (17), Owensboro Catholic (16), Newport (15), Washington County (14), Shelby Valley (13), McLean County (12), Middlesboro (11), Murray (10), West Carter (9), Lloyd Memorial (8), Caldwell County (7), Danville (6), Beechwood (5), Breathitt County (4), Mayfield (3), defending champion Somerset (2) and top-ranked Lexington Christian (1). The Cardinals concluded the 2019 high school football season 7-4. Martin County's 2019 season ended following a loss to Shelby Valley in the opening round of the Class 2A State Playoffs. Martin County notched wins over Betsy Layne, Magoffin County, Phelps, Bath County, East Ridge, Prestonsburg and Middlesboro in 2019. During the 2019 high school football season, Martin County outscored opponents 306-224. Martin County entered the week scheduled to kick off the 2020 high school football season in August.
