Martin County shuts out Lawrence County 3-0

INEZ — Recording its second straight win, Martin County shut out visiting Lawrence County 3-0 in a girls’ high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Counterparts in the 15th Region, Martin County and Lawrence County met for a non-district girls’ high school soccer match.
Laura Hale recorded a hat trick to lead Martin County to the shutout win.
In addition to Laura Hale’s three goals, Martin County’s offensive attack featured multiple other contributors. Hailey Damron, Lena Hale and Sophia McCoy distributed one assist each for Martin County in the victory.
Goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher paced Martin County defensively. Fletcher recorded a shutout, tallying six saves.
Martin County is scheduled to visit Lawrence County for another girls’ high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Johnson Central 1
Martin County defeated visiting Johnson Central 4-1 in a 57th District girls’ soccer match on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Sophia McCoy scored three goals to lead Martin County to the win.
In addition to McCoy’s hart trick, Laura Hale scored one goal and dealt out two assists for Martin County in the victory.
Defensively for Martin County, goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher recorded 12 assists while limiting Johnson Central to one goal.
Lakin Bentley scored Johnson Central’s lone goal.
Goalkeeper Abigail Ramey recorded five saves for Johnson Central in the setback.
