Litteral leads Hornets over Betsy Layne, 36-8

SALYERSVILLE — Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral completed 8 of 15 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns to lead Magoffin County over visiting Betsy Layne 36-8 in a high school football season opener on Friday night, Magoffin County pilled up 438 yards of total offense in the win. Litteral completed at least one pass to four different receivers. Brad Standifer led Magoffin County in receiving, reeling in two receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Following Standifer in yardage, Isaiah Salyer hauled in four receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown as part of the Hornets' winning effort. On the ground, Magoffin County rushed 23 times for 239 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Howard led the Hornets in rushing. Howard rushed three times for 96 yards.Following Howard on the ground for Magoffin County, Aden Barnett rushed three times for 90 yards and one touchdown. Howard (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack), Ben Lafferty (6 tackles, 2 tackles for losses, 2 sacks) and Brayden Standifer (5 tackles 1 tackle for a loss) combined to lead the Hornets defensively.
