Lions turn back Bulldogs

ASHLAND — Boyd County prevented Lawrence County from remaining in the win column, defeating the Bulldogs 42-20 on Friday, Oct. 25.
The Lions prevailed in a non-district game.
As a result of the loss, Lawrence County dropped to 6-3.
Boyd County improved to 5-4 after notching the win.
The Lions rushed 32 times for 258 yards and six touchdowns. Rhett Holbrook led Boyd County, rushing 11 times for 149 yards and four touchdowns.
Behind Holbrook in Boyd County’s rushing attack, Marcus Brumfield rushed 16 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively for Boyd County, Cole Hicks recorded two interceptions.
Lawrence County rushed 26 times for 152 yards one touchdown. Connar York rushed 11 times for 56 yards and one touchdown to pace Lawrence County on the ground.
Luke Fetherolf continued to lead Lawrence County through the air, completing 15 passes for 80 yards and one touchdown.
Another Lawrence County quarterback, Mitchell Frazier, completed two passes for 27 yards and one touchdown.
Kaden Johnson paced Lawrence County in receiving. Johnson hauled in five receptions for 34 yards.
Braxton Davis and Carlo Chicko each reeled in one touchdown pass reception for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Mason County for its final game in the 2024 high school football regular season on Friday, Nov. 1.
In another regular season finale set for Friday, Nov. 1, Boyd County is slated to host reigning Class 1A champion Pikeville.
