Lawrence County to visit Russell for season opener

LOUISA — Lawrence County is slated to visit Russell for its opener in the 2023 boys’ high school soccer season at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10.

The Bulldogs, under the direction of Coach Scott Johnson, compiled an 11-5-2 record in 2022. Lawrence County is the reigning 58th District champion. After capturing the 58th District title, Lawrence County finished runner-up in the 15th Region.

Following a loss to rival Ashland in the semifinals of the 63rd District Boys’ Soccer Tournament, Russell exited the 2022 season 12-7-1.

Lawrence County suffered two losses to Russell during the 2022 boys’ high school soccer season. Russell blanked visiting Lawrence County 5-0 on Aug. 18, 2022. Then, in another match, Russell managed to double up the Bulldogs 4-2 on Sept. 15, 2022.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Russell on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
