Lawrence County Farm Bureau Bowl set for Aug. 26

LOUISA — The Lawrence County Farm Bureau Bowl is set for Saturday, Aug. 26.

Lawrence County is slated to host Shelby Valley in the bowl game at Luke Varney Memorial Stadium.

Two Eastern Kentucky high school football programs, Lawrence County and Shelby Valley are non-district rivals.

The Bulldogs and Wildcats did not meet during the 2022 high school football season.

Lawrence County captured the Cass 3A, District 8 championship and compiled a 9-3 record in the 2022 high school football season, outscoring opponents 385-220.

Greenup County ousted Lawrence County from the 2022 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs, beating the Bulldogs 28-7.

Shelby Valley compiled a 10-3 record in the 2022 high school football season, outscoring opponents 571-285. The reigning Class 2A, District 8 champion, Shelby Valley reached the third round of the high school football postseason in 2022. Eventual state champion Beechwood defeated Shelby Valley 49-12 in the third round of the 2022 KHSAA Class 2A Playoffs.

Lawrence County will host Shelby Valley for the first game on its turfed field.

The Bulldogs’ 2023 schedule includes games versus Shelby Valley, Rowan County, Perry County Central, Harlan County, Estill County, Belfry, Magoffin County, Powell County, Boyd County and Mason County.

The Lawrence County-Shelby Valley football game is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
