Lawrence County to meet 10th Region champion in Sweet 16

LOUISA — Lawrence County will meet the 10th Region champion in the opening round of the KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27.

Host Montgomery County, Mason County, Nicholas County and perennial title contender George Rogers Clark were set to compete in the semifinals of the 10th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Monday, March 17.

The 10th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game is slated for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17.

Lawrence County (23-10) registered four wins on its way to capturing the 15th Region boys’ basketball title. The Bulldogs defeated Martin County 97-84 in the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game at Pike County Central on Tuesday, March 11.

At the start of the week, in addition to Lawrence County, Ashland Blazer (16th Region), Danville Christian (12th Region), Jeffersontown (6th Region), Trinity (7th Region), North Laurel (13th Region), Breathitt County (14th Region), Daviess County (3rd Region) and Great Crossing (11th Region) had already advanced to the KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament.
