Lawrence County shuts out Ashland 6-0

ASHLAND — Visiting Lawrence County scored four runs over its final two at-bats to blank familiar opponent Ashland 6-0 in a high school softball game on Thursday, April 22.

Lawrence County outhit Ashland 8-3 and committed only one error.

The Lady Bulldogs gradually pulled away to win. Lawrence County broke open a scoreless game in the top half of the third inning, pushing across one run to secure a lead.

Finishing strong, Lawrence County scored five runs over the last three innings.

Allie Triplett led Lawrence County to victory in the circle. Triplett pitched a complete game, allowing zero runs on three hits while striking out one and walking one.

Ashland pitcher Jada Erwin pitched a complete game and took the loss in the circle. Erwin allowed six runs on eight hits while recording three strikeouts over seven innings.

Bree Jones paced Lawrence County at the plate, delivering two hits in four at-bats.

Shelby Blevins provided a pair of RBIs for Lawrence County, driving in three of the Lady Bulldogs' six runs.

Triplett, Blevins, Danielle Crum and Kensley Feltner record one hit apiece for Lawrence County in the non-district win.

Kendall Hillard, Kenzi Robinson and Lauren Spears each collected one hit to lead Ashland's offensive effort.

Ashland, a former 16th Region frontrunner, committed three errors in the loss.

Former 16th Region rivals, Lawrence County and Ashland met for the first time in the 2021 high school softball season.
