Lawrence County outlasts Boyd County, claims 2A, Section 8 championship

LOUISA — Winning via penalty kicks, Lawrence County outlasted Belfry 1-0 in the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Soccer Tournament title match on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Lawrence County, under the direction of Coach Heath Webb, edged Belfry 5-4 on penalty kicks to claim the sectional championship.

Landing in the win column, Lawrence County claimed its first victory in the 2023 girls’ high school soccer season.

Lawrence County claimed the win after suffering a one-goal loss to Belfry in overtime six days earlier.

The Lady Bulldogs advance to the 2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament, which will be held in Owensboro in September.
