Lawrence County outlasts Betsy Layne 54-48

BETSY LAYNE — Lawrence County outlasted Betsy Layne 54-48 in a 58th District girls’ basketball game on Friday, Feb. 2.

After notching the win, Lawrence County improved to 13-8 overall and 4-1 in the 58th District.

Betsy Layne dropped to 12-8 overall and 1-3 in the 58th District following the loss.

Lawrence County shot 36 percent (18-of-50) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made four of 19 three-point field goal attempts.

Lawrence County shot 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the free throw line.

Sophie Adkins led Lawrence County with a double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Adkins was the only Lawrence County player to reach double figures.

Along with Adkins, Lawrence County received scoring from Leandra Curnutte (seven points), Jada Patton (six points), Abby Maynard (five points), Abby Nelson (four points), Kaison Ward (four points) and Madison Artrip (three points).
