Lawrence County falls in Bardstown in 2A State Tournament

OWENSBORO — Lawrence County was held scoreless as Bardstown pulled away to win 8-0 in the semifinals of the 2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament on Friday, Sept. 16.
The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the 2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament.
Lawrence County dropped to 6-5 as a result of the loss.
Balanced offensively, Bardstown featured six different scorers.
Sadie Blincoe and Chloe Boone scored two goals apiece to lead Bardstown to the shutout win over Lawrence County.
Kaitlin St. Peter, Rowan Walls, Avery Welther and Laken Lucas netted one goal apiece for the Tigers.
Goalkeeper Emily Clements led Region 5 member Bardstown defensively, recording a shutout for the Tigers.
Laylen Hopson and Abby Maynard represented Lawrence County on the All-2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament Team.
After shutting out Lawrence County, Bardstown finished runner-up to Lexington Catholic in the 2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament. Claiming its second straight championship, Lexington Catholic blanked Bardstown 10-0 in the 2A girls’ soccer state title match.
Lawrence County will enter the postseason in October.
