Lawrence County edges Belfry, 2-1

BELFRY — Lawrence County outlasted Belfry 2-1 in a 57th District girls’ soccer match on Monday, Sept. 25.

The match served as a regular season finale for both Lawrence County and Belfry.

Leandra Curnutte and Camberleigh Max-Stepp netted one goal apiece for Lawrence County in its win.

In addition to finding the net, Curnutte provided an assist on Maxi-Stepp’s goal.

Goalkeeper Abby Maynard led Lawrence County’s defensive effort, limiting Belfry to one goal. In a strong performance for Lawrence County, Maynard recorded six saves.

Makena Justice scored Belfry’s lone goal in the match.

Defensively for Belfry, goalkeeper Jazzy Cline recorded 11 saves while allowing two goals.

Lawrence County was set to meet host Belfry in the opening round of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
