Lawrence County competes in KHSAA Tennis State Tournament

LEXINGTON — Lawrence County competed in the KHSAA Tennis State Championships at the University of Kentucky on Tuesday, May 30.

Girls’ Tennis: Representing Lawrence County after capturing a region title, Kennedy Gauze dropped an opening round match. Greenwood’s Kate Young held on to defeat Gauze 1-6, 6-3, 10-6.

A duo from South Warren defeated Lawrence County’s Riley McClanahan and TK Ellis 6-0, 6-0 in a doubles match.

Boys’ Tennis: Chase Kendrick, another region champion representing Lawrence County, dropped an opening round match to number one overall seed Evan Duggal from Henry Clay. Dougal defeated Kendrick 6-0, 6-0.

North Oldham’s Luke Colson defeated Lawrence County’s Blake Maynard 6-0, 6-0 in another opening round match.

In doubles, a duo from McCracken County defeated Lawrence County’s Alex Desario and Cayden Sweeney 6-0, 6-0.
