Lawrence County claims wins over Morgan County, Pike County Central

LOUISA — Lawrence County recorded back-to-back wins in the second week of the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season, defeating both Morgan County and Pike County Central.

Lawrence County 79

Morgan County 65

Kensley Feltner scored 26 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Lawrence County over visiting Morgan County 79-65 in a girls' high school basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Lawrence County shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the field in the winning effort. The Lady Bulldogs were 5-of-17 (29.4 percent) from 3-point range.

Lawrence County shot 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the free throw line.

Kyleah Ward and Kaison Ward accompanied Feltner in double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, adding 16 points apiece.

Barely missing double figures in scoring for the Lady Bulldogs, Sophie Adkins added nine points.

Pike County Central 28

Remaining in the win column, Lawrence County rolled past former district rival Pike County Central 63-28 in a girls' high school basketball game on Friday, Jan. 15.

Host Pike County Central trailed throughout the matchup.

Lawrence County shot 54.5 percent (24-of-44) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs were 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from 3-point range.

Lawrence County finished 7-of-14 (50 percent) from the free throw line.

Kensley Feltner netted 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Lawrence County to the win.

Joining Feltner in double figures in scoring for the Lady Bulldogs, Brooke Neal netted 21 points.

Kaison Ward nearly reached double figures for Lawrence County, finishing with eight points.
