Lawrence County beats Belfry in region tournament’s semifinals

PRESTONSBURG — Lawrence County beat Belfry 12-1 in five innings during the semifinals of the 15th Region Softball Tournament at StoneCrest on Wednesday, May 27.
The win allowed Lawrence County to advance to the 15th Region Softball Tournament title game.
Taylor Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Blevins recorded four strikeouts.
Molly Fahm pitched a complete game for Belfry and suffered the loss in the circle. Fahm recorded 11 strikeouts.
Lawrence County scored 12 runs on 11 hits. Blevins (one hit, one RBI), Emalynn Kitts (two hits, two RBIs), Ella Smith (two hits, two RBIs), Aleaha Gillispie (two hits), Addalyn Woods (one hit, three RBIs), Brinley Baisden (one hit, two RBIs), Skyler Horn (one hit, one RBI) and Jada Patton (one hit) were Lawrence County’s top offensive contributors. As part of Lawrence County’s winning effort, Blevins, Woods and Baisden each homered. Showing speed on the basepaths, Kitts tripled while Smith doubled.
Belfry plated one run on two hits. Fahm (one hit), McKinlee Fields (one hit) and Baylor Hall (one RBI) contributed offensively for the Pirates. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Fahm legged out a triple. Delivering another extra-base hit for Belfry, Fields doubled.
