Lady Tigers to return to Gatlinburg, host holiday event

PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville is slated to return to Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain Classic during the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season. The 2020 Smoky Mountain Classic is set for December 21-23.
Under the direction of head coach Les Trimble, Paintsville is a former Smoky Mountain Classic champion. Paintsville won two of three games in the Smoky Mountain Classic during its most recent appearance in the 2019-20 season. A pair of holiday events are on Paintsville's 2020-21 schedule, which will be finalized later in the offseason. The Lady Tigers are slated to host the City Between the Lakes Classic on their home floor December 28-29. Former 15th Region champion Paintsville ended the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season 9-20. Paintsville lost to crosstown rival Johnson Central in the 2019-20 57th District Girls' Basketball Tournament Semifinals at Martin County High School in late-February.
A former 15th Region frontrunner, Paintsville put several young talented players on the court throughout the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season. The Lady Tigers are scheduled to open preseason practice in mid-October.
