Lady Bulldogs to open season at Magoffin County

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to open the 2020 high school volleyball season at Magoffin County on Aug. 18. Former 57th District rivals, Lawrence County and Magoffin County are 15th Region rivals. The Lady Bulldogs ended the 2019 high school volleyball season 12-21. Lawrence County suffered a season-ending loss to former 15th Region champion Betsy Layne in the 2019 58th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse. Magoffin County ended the 2019 high school volleyball season winless, finishing 0-22. The Lady Hornets lost to Paintsville in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals at Johnson Central's Paul R. Setser Fieldhouse. The Lady Bulldogs are slated to host Magoffin County in a return match on Sept. 15. Head coach Autumn Blevins guides the Lady Bulldogs.
Lawrence County is due to host former 16th Region counterpart Raceland in a home opener on Aug.20.
The Lady Bulldogs and other high school volleyball teams from throughout the state will open preseason practice in July.
