Lady Bulldogs scheduled to open season at Johnson Central

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to open the 2020 high school volleyball season at Johnson Central on Sept. 7. Familiar foes, Lawrence County are Johnson Central are former 57th District rivals.
Lawrence County's revised schedule for the 2020 high school volleyball season includes matches versus Johnson Central, Betsy Layne, Raceland, Magoffin County, Martin County, Lewis County, Tolsia (W.Va.), Fairview, Rose Hill Christian, Floyd Central and Prestonsburg, The Lady Bulldogs are slated to host Johnson Central for a late-season match on October 13. Neither Lawrence County nor Johnson Central advanced to the 2019 15th Region Volleyball Tournament. Lawrence County ended the 2019 season 12-21. The Lady Bulldogs lost to Betsy Layne in the 2019 58th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse. Johnson Central compiled a 13-15 record in the 2019 season. The Lady Eagles lost to Martin County in the 2019 57th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals. Johnson Central hosted the 2019 57th District Volleyball Tournament. Both Lawrence County and Johnson Central compete in the 15th Region. Floyd Central is the reigning 15th Region volleyball champion. Excitement is building for the 2020 high school volleyball season. High school volleyball teams from throughout the state are scheduled to open preseason practice on Aug. 24.
