PRESTONSBURG — Lawrence County claimed its second straight 15th Region softball title at StoneCrest on Thursday, May 29.

The Lady Bulldogs edged Pike County Central 4-3 in the 15th Region Softball Tournament title game.

Jada Patton drove in the game-winning run for Lawrence County during the bottom half of the seventh inning.

Pike County Central scored first and owned multiple leads. The Lady Hawks led 3-0 before Lawrence County plated a pair of runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

Lawrence County added two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to secure a come-from-behind win over upset-minded Pike County Central.

Taylor Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Blevins recorded seven strikeouts.

Riley Spann pitched a complete game for Pike County Central and suffered the loss in the circle. Spann recorded 14 strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored four runs on seven hits. Patton (three hits, three RBIs), Ella Smith (one hit, one RBI), Bree Jones (one hit), Brinley Baisden (one hit) and Aleaha Gillispie (one hit) supplied Lawrence County’s offense. Excelling at the plate, Patton doubled twice and homered once. Patton was named the 15th Region Softball Tournament MVP.

Pike County Central plated three runs on eight hits. Spann (three hits, one RBI), Kylee Compton (three hits) and Abigail Hess (two hits) supplied Pike County Central’s offense.

Patton, Blevins, Smith, Gracie Preece and Addalyn Woods represented Lawrence County on the All-15th Region Softball Tournament Team.

Lawrence County is scheduled to meet Marshall County in the opening round of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6.
