LOUISA — Lawrence County blanked Russell 9-0 in an early-season high school softball game on Tuesday, March 18.

Taylor Blevins pitched a three-hit shutout for the Lady Bulldogs. Blevins recorded 11 strikeouts over seven innings as she held Russell scoreless and earned the win in the circle.

Lawrence County excelled offensively and defensively.

The Lady Bulldogs scored nine runs on 10 hits. Blevins (one hit, three RBIs), Ella Smith (two hits, one RBI), Emalynn Kitts (two hits, one RBI), Gracie Preece (one hit, three RBIs), Lexi Crum (one hit, one RBI), Abby Maynard (one hit), Bree Jones (one hit) and Jada Patton (one hit) were each productive at the plate in Lawrence County’s shutout win. Both Blevins and Preece homered for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lawrence County and Russell, former 16th Region rivals, aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2025 high school softball season.

The Lady Bulldogs shut out Floyd Central 11-0 in five innings in a 58th District game on Monday, March 17. Lawrence County hosted Floyd Central for a season opener.

Blevins also pitched a three-hit shutout for Lawrence County in the season opener versus Floyd Central.

Offensively in the game against Floyd Central, Kitts and Maynard provided three hits apiece for the Lady Bulldogs.
