Lady Bulldogs beat Boyd County, 9-5

ASHLAND — Halting a losing skid at five games, Lawrence County beat 16th Region member Boyd County 9-5 on Thursday, May 11.
Lawrence County pitcher Taylor Blevins claimed the win in the circle. Blevins pitched a complete game, allowing only one earned run while recording three strikeouts over seven innings.
Boyd County pitcher Kylie Thompson absorbed the loss in the circle. Pitching a complete game of her own, Thompson allowed six earned runs while striking out two Lawrence County batters.
Lawrence County scored nine runs on 14 hits. Blevins (one hit), Dani Crum (three hits, three RBIs), Kensley Feltner (two hits, two RBIs), Allie Triplett (two hits, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (two hits), Bree Jones (two hits), Abby Maynard (one hit) and Abby Nelson (one hit) each made an impact offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Providing a lift at the plate for Lawrence County, Crum homered. Crum connected for her seventh home run in the 2023 high school softball season.
Sara Bays paced Boyd County at the plate, driving in two runs.
Pike County Central 4, Lawrence County 3: Pike County Central held on to edge Lawrence County 4-3 on Friday, May 12.
A pair of 15th Region title contenders, Pike County Central and Lawrence County battled throughout the late-season game.
Pike County Central pitcher Chloe Hannah posted the win in the circle. Hannah pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs while registering nine strikeouts.
Lawrence County pitcher Allie Triplett took the loss in the circle. Triplett, who went the distance in the circle for her team, allowed two earned runs while recording four strikeouts.
Emalie Tackett (three hits, two RBIs), Livia Sanders (two hits, one RBI), Taylor Hannah (one hit), Chloe Hannah (one hit), Abigail Hess (one hit), Hannah May (one hit) and Kaiden Hess (one RBI) accounted for Pike County Central’s offense in the late-season game. Tackett doubled twice for the Lady Hawks.
Lawrence County scored three runs on four hits. Kensley Feltner (two hits, three RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits) and Bree Jones (one hit) each delivered at the plate for Lawrence County in the late-season matchup. Feltner drilled two doubles for the Lady Bulldogs.
