BUCKLEYS CREEK — The Johnson Central Lady Eagles pulled away to beat 15th Region rival Belfry 44-30 at Pike County Central High School on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Claiming its sixth straight win, Johnson Central shot 30 percent (12 of 40) from the field. The Lady Eagles finished five of 19 from three-point range.

Johnson Central shot 78.9 percent (15 of 19) in the game, which was played as part of the Pike Central Lady Hawk 2-Day Classic.

Kaylyn McKenzie led Johnson Central with a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Giving Johnson Central two scorers in double figures, Sophie Younce netted 11 points.

Contributing offensively, Taylor McKenzie (six points), Abbie Stambaugh (four points), Becca Wright (four points), Adyson Burchett (three points) and McKinley Cantrell (two points) supplied the rest of Johnson Central’s scoring.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host Belfry for a late-season girls’ high school basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 9.
