PIKEVILLE — University of Pikeville kicker Jakob Headley was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 18.

Headley is a Johnson Central High School graduate.

Headley, a 5-10, 155-pound senior from Auxier, received the honor on the strength of four perfect kicks in the Bears’ win over Faulkner University.

He nailed three PATs in as many tries and his only field goal attempt, coming from 22 yards out. Headley was also named the AAC Player of the Week after Pikeville’s season opening win over Campbellsville, when he was 4-of-4 on PATs, including the game winner with 18 seconds left.

The field goal was his first of the season and he’s 11-of-12 on extra-point attempts. It’s the third time in his career he’s been named Special Teams Player of the Week, taking the honor as a sophomore in the Mid-South Conference.
