HAZARD — Visiting Johnson Central shut out Perry County Central 41-0 in a Class 4A, District 8 football game on Friday, Oct. 8.
After claiming the win, Johnson Central improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in Class 4A, District 8.
Perry County Central dropped to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the district following the loss.
Johnson Central led 7-0 at halftime, gradually pulling away for the district win in the second half.
The Golden Eagles continued to excel on the ground. Johnson Central rushed 33 times for 317 yards and six touchdowns.
Three different Johnson Central players rushed for positive yardage in the district win.
Chase Price paced Johnson Central on the ground, rushing six times for 100 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Eagles.
Quarterback Grant Rice rushed eight times for 82 yards and two touchdowns for Johnson Central in the district win.
Behind Rice in rushing for Johnson Central, Zack McCoart rushed 10 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
Another productive rusher in the Golden Eagles' offensive attack, Matt Crum rushed five times for 59 yards.
Defensively for Johnson Central, linebacker Mason Lemaster recorded a team-high 14 tackles.
Price posted 11 tackles, finishing as the Golden Eagles' second-leading tackler.
Johnson Central is scheduled to host Harlan County for a Class 4A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 15.
