Golden Eagles roll past Cougars 9-1

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central rolled past Letcher County Central 9-1 in a late-season boys’ high school soccer match at Coach Jim Matney Field on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
The Golden Eagles used a balanced offensive attack to pull away to win convincingly in the non-district match.
Johnson Central’s offensive attack included Mason Walker (two goals, two assists), Conner Watts (two goals), Ty Wilson (one goal, two assists), Gavin Webb (one goal, two assists), Jarend Zimbelman (one goal, one assist), Bryston Conway (one goal), Bryson Sergent (one goal) and Jaidon Daniel (one assist).
Peyton Daniel (three saves) and Luke Collins (two saves) split time at goalkeeper for Johnson Central during the match.
Letcher County Central avoided a shutout when Conner Bowling scored off an assist from Noah Triplett.
Defensively for Letcher County Central, goalkeeper William Bolling allowed nine goals. However, Bolling managed to deliver 11 saves for the Cougars.
