Golden Eagles outlast Flyers

FRANKFORT — Johnson Central outlasted Franklin County 84-82 in a boys’ basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The Golden Eagles improved to 17-5 after posting the win.
Johnson Central shot 56.7 percent (34-of-60) from the field. The Golden Eagles shot 40.9 percent (nine-of-22) from three-point range.
Johnson Central shot 53.8 percent (seven-of-13) from the free throw line.
Brayden Shepherd led Johnson Central to the win. Shepherd poured in a game-high 35 points for the Golden Eagles.
Mason McKenzie followed Shepherd in Johnson Central’s scoring column, netting 13 points.
Finishing directly behind McKenzie, Austin Slone and Kyle Rose added 12 points apiece for the Golden Eagles. Slone recorded a triple-double, distributing 16 assists and hauling in 13 rebounds. Delivering a double-double, Rose claimed 10 rebounds.
Rounding out Johnson Central’s individual scoring, Cooper Blair and Ethan Cole contributed six points apiece.
Johnson Central and Franklin County met for the first time since the 2004-05 boys’ high school basketball season.
