Golden Eagles fend off Pikeville 5-3

PAINTSVILLE – Continuing to win, Johnson Central outlasted 15th Region rival Pikeville 5-3 in a high school baseball regular season finale on Thursday, May 27.
Gavin Crum earned the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Working out of a starting role, Crum pitched three innings, allowing one run on three hits while recording three strikeouts.
Following Crum on the mound, Hunter Blevins, Cameron Kelsey and Ryan Sartin-Slone pitched in relief for the Golden Eagles.
Sartin-Slone, Keygan Pelfrey, Josh Slone, Conner Lemaster and Mason Kestner recorded one hit apiece for Johnson Central in the win.
Both Sartin-Slone and Lemaster doubled.
Slone and Lemaster produced one RBI apiece for the Eagles.
Johnson Central 5, Breathitt County 3: Visiting Johnson Central beat 14th Region member Breathitt County 5-3 in a late-season high school baseball game on Wednesday, May 26.
Bryce Spencer earned the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Spencer allowed two runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
Contributing on the mound for Johnson Central, Seth Fitch and Chandler Spradlin pitched in relief.
Johnson Central outhit Breathitt County 7-5 and committed only one error.
Seven different players from Johnson Central recorded one hit apiece. Spradlin delivered a triple and drove in three of Johnson Central's five runs to lead the Golden Eagles at the plate.
