PAINTSVILLE — In a matchup between two perennial region title contenders, Johnson Central doubled up visiting Perry County Central 8-4 on Wednesday, March 29.
Chase Preece started on the mound for Johnson Central and claimed the win. Preece pitched five innings, allowing three hits on four runs while recording eight strikeouts.
Hunter Blevins pitched the final two innings for Johnson Central and notched the save. Blevins limited Perry County Central to one run on one hit while registering one strikeout.
Tanner Perkins started on the mound for Perry County Central and suffered the loss. Perkins pitched three innings, allowing seven runs on five hits while recording six strikeouts.
Johnson Central (15th Region) scored eight runs on eight hits. Offensively for the Golden Eagles, Preece (one hit, one RBI), Blevins (one RBI), Boston Crace (two hits, one RBI), Gavin Crum (two hits), Cole Ward (one hit, one RBI), Brock Butcher (one hit), Cameron Kelsey (one hit) and Logan Morrow (one RBI) each produced at the plate. Both Crace and Kelsey doubled for the Golden Eagles.
Perry County Central (14th Region) plated four runs on six hits. Perkins (three hits, two RBIs), Mason McAlarnis (one hit, one RBI), Dylan Howard (one hit, one RBI) and Dylan Elkins (one hit) each connected at the plate for the Commodores.
