PRESTONSBURG — Tournament newcomer Johnson Central blanked Pike County Central 8-0 in the 2A, Section 8 baseball title game at StoneCrest on Saturday, April 12.
Following the win, Johnson Central advances to the 2A State Baseball Tournament.
Johnson Central started strong, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the opening inning.
Thriving late in the game, Johnson Central scored five runs over its last two at-bats to put the game completely out of Pike County Central’s reach.
Levi Pennington pitched a no-hitter for the Golden Eagles. Pennington recorded eight strikeouts as he claimed the win on the mound.
Johnson Central plated eight runs on 10 hits. Chase Preece (three hits), Kaden Litteral (two hits, two RBIs), Kyler Callaham (one hit, two RBIs), Kaleb Callaham (one hit, one RBI), Cash Parks (one hit, one RBI), Mason McKenzie (one hit) and Dalton Boner (one hit) allowed Johnson Central to excel offensively in the tournament title game.
Defensively, Johnson Central committed only one error.
