Golden Eagles blanks Ashland 4-0

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central blanked visiting Ashland 4-0 in a high school baseball game on Tuesday, May 11.

The victory allowed longtime Johnson Central head coach Shawn Hall to record his 400th career win.

Perennial 16th Region title contender Ashland was limited throughout the matchup.

Cameron Kelsey led Johnson Central to the victory on the mound, pitching a complete game two-hit shutout. Kelsey recorded six strikeouts while giving up only two walks.

Johnson Central plated four runs on six hits.

Chandler Spradlin (2-for-3, one RBI), Ryan Sartin-Slone (2-for-3), Brock Bowling (1-for-3, one RBI), Connor Lemaster (1-for-2), Gavin Crum (one RBI) and Josh Slone (one RBI) contributed at the plate for the Golden Eagles.

Sartin-Slone doubled twice for Johnson Central in the shutout win.

Johnson Central 10, Letcher County Central 3

Johnson Central upended host Letcher County Central, a member of the 14th Region, 10-3 in a high school baseball game on Wednesday, May 12.

Pitching in relief, Chandler Spradlin earned the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles.

In addition to Spradlin, Josh Slone pitched in relief for Johnson Central.

Mason Kestner started the game on the mound for the Golden Eagles.

Kestner (2-for-4), Ryan Sartin-Slone (1-for-2, two RBIs), Brock Butcher (1-for-3, two RBIs) and Matt Crum (two RBIs) combined to pace Johnson Central at the plate.
