Fletcher homers in Bulldogs’ win over Red Devils

LOUISA — Lawrence County turned back former region rival Russell, winning 9-7 on Thursday, April 17.

The Bulldogs battled back from behind to claim the win. Lawrence County finished strong, plating three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning.

Colin Howard pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound. Howard recorded two strikeouts.

Eli Fletcher started on the mound for Lawrence County and pitched the first two and two-thirds innings. Fletcher struck out one Russell batter.

Elijah Hankins pitched one-third of an inning in relief for Russell and suffered the loss.

Avery Lother started on the mound for Russell and pitched three and one-third innings. Lother posted four strikeouts.

Along with Hankins, Frank Brinkman and Hayden McGuire pitched in relief for the Red Devils.

Lawrence County scored nine runs on seven hits. Howard (one RBI), Fletcher (three hits, three RBIs), Cameron Perkins (one hit), Braxton Davis (one hit), Gray Derifield (one hit), Boedy Maynard (one hit), Logan Whisenant (two RBIs), Tyger Cavins (two RBIs) and Brady Caudill (one hit) each excelled offensively for Lawrence County, which registered its fourth straight win. Showing power at the plate for Lawrence County, Fetcher homered.

Russell scored seven runs on nine hits. Hankins (one hit), Lother (one hit, two RBIs), McGuire (one hit, one RBI), Kyle Mokas (three hits, one RBI), Dawson Wada (two hits, one RBI), Caden Criswell (one hit, one RBI), Grayson Kiser (one hit) and Jayden Frasure (one RBI) were each successful at the plate for the Red Devils.
