Feltner, Adkins combine to lead LCHS over Elliott County

LOUISA — Junior point guard Kensley Feltner and freshman guard Sophie Adkins combined to lead Lawrence County over visiting Elliott County 71-40 in a girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Lawrence County moved ahead early. After outscoring Elliott County 24-8 in the second quarter, Lawrence County led 40-22 at halftime.

Finishing strong, Lawrence County outscored Elliott County 20-7 in the fourth quarter.

Lawrence County shot 54.5 percent (30-of-55) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent (nine-of-18) from three-point range.

Lawrence County connected on two of five free throw attempts in the victory.

Feltner scored a game-high 26 points to lead Lawrence County to the win. Feltner shot 90 percent (nine-of-10) from inside the arc and hit both of her free throw attempts.

Accompanying Feltner in double figures for Lawrence County, Adkins scored 21 points. Adkins drained five of eight three-point field goal attempts.

Nearly reaching double figures for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward netted nine points and Leandra Curnutte contributed eight points.

Elliott County shot 32.7 percent (16-of-49) from the field. The Lions connected on only three of 20 three-point field goal attempts.

Elliott County shot 55.6 percent (five-of-nine) from three-point range.

Rylee Sturgill scored a team-high 10 points to lead the Lions. Following Sturgill in scoring for Elliott County, Kailey Hamilton and Jasmine Ison netted eight points apiece.
