Eagles defeat Hornets for district win

SALYERSVILLE – Visiting Johnson Central pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 67-38 in a 57th District boys' basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 13.
Johnson Central shot 48 percent (24-of-50) from the field in the district win. The Golden Eagles shot 33.3 percent (five-of-15) from the three-point range.
Johson Central shot 82.4 percent (14-of-17) from the free throw line as part of the winning effort.
Ryan Rose scored 17 points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead Johnson Central to the victory.
Recording a double-double for the Golden Eagles, Jacob Butcher scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Joining Rose and Butcher in double figures for Johnson Central, Grant Rice scored 15 points.
Nearly recording a double-double for the Golden Eagles, Conner Lemaster added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Limited offensively, Magoffin County shot 26.3 percent (15-of-57) from the field.
Adan Barnett scored 12 points to lead the Hornets. Barnett was the only Magoffin County player to reach double figures in scoring.
Barely missing a double-double for Magoffin County, Ben Lafferty netted nine points and pulled down 13 rebounds.
Johnson Central is scheduled to host Magoffin County for another 57th District boys' basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 3.
