Cardinals shut out Bath County 46-0

OWINGSVILLE — Claiming its second straight shutout win, Martin County blanked Bath County 46-0 in a Class 2A, District 8 game on Friday, Sept. 23.

Martin County improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Class 2A, District 8 after registering the win.

The Cardinals moved ahead early in the Class 2A, District 8 and forced Bath County to play from behind.

Martin County dominated throughout the district game.

The Cardinals rushed 24 times for 356 yards and five touchdowns.

Brock Messer led Martin County to the win, rushing seven times for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Behind Messer in Martin County’s offensive attack, Dawson Mills rushed four times for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Reaching the endzone on one of four carries, Madden Miller added another rushing touchdown in the Cardinals’ win.

Weston Jude paced Martin County through the air, completing three of six passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns.

Damian Cheek and Joey Robinson reeled in one touchdown pass reception apiece for the Cardinals.

Martin County is scheduled to host East Ridge for another Class 2A, District 8 game on Friday, Sept. 30.
