Bulldogs beat East Carter for third straight win

GRAYSON — Claiming its third straight win, Lawrence County knocked off East Carter 42-26 in a non-district game on Friday, Sept. 23.
The win allowed Lawrence County to improve to 4-1. East Carter dropped to 5-1 as a result of the loss.
The Bulldogs took a lead out of each quarter, doubling up host East Carter 14-7 in the opening period.
Lawrence County outscored East Carter 21-7 in the second quarter to lead 35-14 at halftime.
The Bulldogs maintained a lead throughout the second half despite being held to one touchdown, which came in the fourth quarter.
Lawrence County rushed 49 times for 327 yards and six touchdowns in the win.
Dylan Ferguson led Lawrence County to the victory, rushing 28 times for 183 yards and four touchdowns.
Talan Pollock followed Ferguson on the ground for the Bulldogs, rushing five times for 53 yards.
Behind Pollock in Lawrence County’s rushing attack, Cody Crum rushed eight times for 47 yards.
Aiding the Bulldogs on the ground, Ryan Marcum rushed six times for 33 yards and one touchdown.
Pollock made an impact on the ground and through the air. The Lawrence County quarterback completed seven of nine passes for 82 yards.
Kaden Gillispie was on the receiving end of Pollock’s throws, hauling in seven receptions for 82 yards.
Producing offensively and defensively for Lawrence County, Gillispie recorded an interception.
Isaac Boggs led East Carter, rushing for two touchdowns.
Providing a lift on special teams for the Raiders, Gabe Roberts returned a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown.
Producing through the air for East Carter, Eli Estepp connected with Mikey Hall on an eight-yard scoring pass.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Boyd County for another non-district game on Friday, Sept. 30.
