Bulldogs win Kentucky Farm Bureau Bowl

INEZ — Lawrence County defeated host Martin County 35-7 in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Bowl on Friday, Aug. 22.
Longtime rivals, Lawrence County and Martin County met for an opening game in the 2025 high school football season.
The Bulldogs scored first and never trailed. Lawrence County led 35-0 before Martin County reached the endzone.
Starting strong, Lawrence County outscored Martin County 28-0 in the initial quarter.
Extending its lead, Lawrence County returned to the endzone and led 35-0 with 8:04 remaining in the first half.
Quarterback Luke Fetherolf paced Lawrence County through the air, completing six of six pass attempts for 188 yards and one touchdown.
Kaden Johnson emerged as Lawrence County’s top receiver, reeling in three receptions for 127 yards.
Behind Johnson, Carlo Chicko added two receptions for 26 yards for the Bulldogs.
Finding the endzone, Gray Derifield supplied a 25-yard touchdown pass reception for Lawrence County in its comfortable win.
Lawrence County rushed 29 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Fetherolf, Johnson, Cavin Williams, Darren Brewer, Chandler Preece, Mitchell Frazier and Braylen Stumbo each rushed for positive yardage in Lawrence County’s victory. Johnson, Williams and Preece each provided one rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Defensively for Lawrence County, Preece recorded a team-high eight tackles. Delivering a turnover for Lawrence County, Braxton Davis recorded an interception.
Quarterback Devan Maynard paced Martin County, rushing eight times for 70 yards and one touchdown.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Garrard County for its next game on Friday, Aug. 29. The Bulldogs and Golden Lions are due to meet in a bowl game. Kickoff for the Lawrence County-Garrard County game is set for 8:30 p.m.
Martin County is scheduled to meet Pike County Central in the Pike County Bowl at Belfry on Friday, Aug. 29. Kickoff for the Martin County-Pike County Central game is set for 6 p.m.
