LOUISA — Lawrence County used a strong second half performance to top Prestonsburg 64-47 in a 58th District boys’ basketball game on Friday, Jan. 26.

With the win, Lawrence County improved to 16-3 overall and 4-0 in the 58th District.

The Bulldogs carried a lead out of each quarter, outscoring Prestonsburg 15-12 in the opening period.

Lawrence County led 25-22 at halftime and added to its lead after the break.

Finishing strong, Lawrence County outscored Prestonsburg 21-12 in the final quarter.

Lawrence County shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 32 percent (eight-of-25) from three-point range.

Lawrence County shot 66.7 percent (six-of-nine) from the free throw line.

Andrew Bloomfield scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs. Along with Bloomfield reaching double figures for Lawrence County, Luke Fetherolf and Blake Marcum scored 12 points apiece.

Nine different players supplied scoring for Lawrence County in the 58th District game. Lawrence County’s additional scorers were Braxton Davis (six points), Hayden Perry (five points), Ford Scaggs (four points), Kaden Johnson (four points), Logan Ratliff (three points) and Gunnar Woods (two points).

Braxton Keathley scored 16 points to pace the Blackcats. Joining Keathley in double figures for Prestonsburg, Mason Stidham scored 12 points.

Following Stidham, Prestonsburg’s additional scorers were Connor Napier (eight points), Kaden Allen (five points), Ethan Ferrell (four points) and Jaxon Estridge (two points).
