Bulldogs to visit Magoffin County for season opener

LOUISA — After being sidelined due to COVID-19, Lawrence County is scheduled to kick off the 2020 high school football season at Magoffin County in a Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 2. COVID-19 has forced high school sports programs throughout the state to alter schedules. The Bulldogs pulled away to beat the Hornets 42-28 when the two teams met during the 2019 high school football season. Lawrence County's current schedule includes home games versus Pike County Central (Friday, Oct. 9), Belfry (Friday, Oct. 16) and Raceland (Friday, Oct. 30).The Bulldogs are slated to visit Floyd Central (Friday, Oct. 23) and Rowan County (Friday, Nov. 6) for additional away games. The Bulldogs are under the direction of head coach Alan Short. Lawrence County ended the 2019 high school football season 4-7. Kickoff for each of Lawrence County's games in the 2020 high school football season is set for 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs' 2020 schedule follows.
