Bulldogs to host Harrison County for opener

LOUISA — Lawrence County is slated to host Harrison County for its opener in the 2021 high school football season on Friday, Aug. 20.

The Bulldogs and Thorobreds did not meet during the COVID-shortened 2020 high school football season.

Lawrence County compiled a 4-2 record in 2020. The Bulldogs reached the second round of the 2020 Class 3A Playoffs.

Junior running back Dylan Ferguson is poised to lead the Bulldogs. Ferguson excelled throughout the 2020 high school football season, rushing 76 times for 500 yards and six touchdowns.

Harrison County, a team from Class 4A (District 6), finished 5-3 in 2020. However, Harrison County missed out on advancing to the Class 4A Playoffs.

Quarterback Kaydon Custard is the top returning player for the Thorobreds. Custard led Harrison County through the air in 2020, completing 34 of 72 passes for 579 yards and seven touchdowns while throwing five interceptions.

In addition to Harrison County, Lawrence County has regular season games scheduled versus Greenup County, Russell, Magoffin County, East Carter, Boyd County, Pike County Central, Belfry, Floyd Central and Raceland.

Kickoff for the Lawrence County-Harrison County football game is set for 7:30 p.m..
