Bulldogs to face Belfry in 2A Sectional

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to face 15th Region rival Belfry in the Kentucky 2A Championships Sectional on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

The Bulldogs, under the direction of head coach Chandler Thompson, compiled an 11-11 record in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season. Lawrence County finished runner-up to much-improved Betsy Layne in the 58th District Boys' Basketball Tournament. Following the district runner-up finish, Lawrence County made an appearance in the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament.

Belfry, another improved team, concluded the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season 17-10. The Pirates captured the 2020-21 60th District title and reached the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals.

Lawrence County is a former 2A Sectional Champion.

Boys' high school basketball teams from throughout the state compete in the 2A Championships.

Both Lawrence County and Belfry return several experienced players from the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season.
