LOUISA — Shaking off a one-point loss to North Hardin, visiting Belfry blanked Lawrence county 36-0 in a Class 3A, District 8 game at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 16. Belfry dealt Lawrence County its first loss in the 2020 high school football season. Following the win, Belfry improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in Class 3A, District 8. Lawrence County dropped to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the district after suffering the shutout loss. Belfry moved ahead early. The Pirates led 21-0 at halftime and continued to control the district game during the second half. Senior running back Isaac Dixon led Belfry to the win, rushing for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Through six games, Dixon has rushed for 1,059 yards and 17 touchdowns. Quarterback Brett Coleman and running back Neal Copley added one rushing touchdown apiece for the Pirates. Dylan Ferguson led Lawrence County, rushing 17 times for 93 yards. Talon Pollock made an impact through the air for Lawrence County, completing 4-of-7 passes for 43 yards. Danny Hall paced Lawrence County in receiving, reeling in four receptions for 41 yards. A Lawrence County-Floyd Central game scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23 has been canceled due to COVID-19. Lawrence County is slated to host Raceland for a non-district game on Friday, Oct. 30.
