Bulldogs suffer season-ending loss to Panthers

PRESTONSBURG — Pikeville shut out Lawrence County 7-0 on the semifinals of the 15th Region Baseball Tournament at StoneCrest on Tuesday, May 28.

The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the 15th Region Baseball Tournament. Lawrence County exited the 2024 high school baseball season 20-12.

Isaac Duty pitched a three-hit shutout for Pikeville and claimed the win on the mound. Duty recorded nine strikeouts.

Talan Pollock and Boedy Maynard split time pitching for the Bulldogs. Pollock started on the mound for Lawrence County and pitched four innings. The Lawrence County starting pitcher recorded three strikeouts. Maynard pitched three scoreless innings in relief for Lawrence County and struck out one Pikeville batter.

Pikeville scored seven runs on seven hits. Noah Jarrell (two hits, two RBIs), Dylan Thompson (one hit, one RBI), Jeb Wilkerson (one hit, one RBI), Bash Ryan (one hit, one RBI), Bradyn Hall (one hit), Sam Wright (one hit) and Isaiah Stanley (one RBI) each delivered offensively for the Panthers. Jarrell doubled in Pikeville’s shutout win.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, Maynard, Abner Collinsworth and Gray Derifield each singled in the season-ending loss.
