LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to host former 16th Region rival East Carter for an opener in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 24. The Bulldogs pulled away to beat the Raiders 83-70 when the two teams met for a season opener in the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. Lawrence County is the reigning 58th District champion. After capturing the 2019-20 58th District title, Lawrence County finished runner-up to Martin County in the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs compiled a 22-12 record during the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. Head coach Chandler Thompson guided Lawrence County to the 15th Region runner-up finish. Double figures scorers Cody Maynard (15.7 ppg) and Trenton Adkins (10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) are set to return to the court for 15th Region title contender runner-up Lawrence County. East Carter finished runner-up to longtime foe West Carter in the 62nd District during its latest campaign. The Raiders, following an appearance in the 16th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament, concluded the 2019-20 season 11-16. Boys' high school basketball teams throughout the state are due to open preseason practice in mid-October.
