Bulldogs pull away to beat Hornets 35-14, Crum leads Lawrence County to district win

LOUISA — Cody Crum rushed 18 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in a TD reception to lead Lawrence County over Magoffin County 35-14 in a Class 3A, District 8 game at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 6.

After posting the win, Lawrence County improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 3A, District 8.

The Bulldogs carried a lead out of each quarter, outscoring Magoffin County 7-0 in the opening period.

Much-improved Magoffin County managed to tie the district game during the second quarter but fell back behind. Lawrence County led 14-7 at halftime and added to its lead during the third quarter.

The Bulldogs led 22-7 at the end of the third quarter and remained in control throughout the final period.

Following Crum in rushing for the Bulldogs, Caven Williams took six carries for 63 yards and one touchdown.

Quarterback Talan Pollack paced Lawrence County through the air, completing 11 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns.

Leading the Bulldogs in receiving, Crum made three catches for 58 yards and one touchdown.

Behind Crum in receiving for the Bulldogs, Dalton Runyons made one reception for a 56-yard touchdown.

Lawrence Country is scheduled to host Powell County for another Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 13.
