EASTERN — Lawrence County overcame a slow start to defeat Floyd Central in a Class 3A, District 8 game and claim its eight win on Friday, Oct. 21.

The top team in Class 3A, District 8, Lawrence County improved to 8-1 overall after posting the win. The Bulldogs moved to 4-0 in Class 3A, District 8.

Floyd Central (0-9, 0-4) managed to outscore Lawrence County 14-7 in the first quarter but failed to limit the Bulldogs throughout the game. Lawrence County outscored Floyd Central 14-7 in the second period to leave the district game tied 21-21 at halftime.

Controlling the third quarter. Lawrence County outscored Floyd Central 21-7.

Finishing strong, Lawrence County added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to set the final score.

Lawrence County rushed 37 times for 431 yards and six touchdowns in the district win.

Three Lawrence County running backs each rushed for over 100 yards.

Leading Lawrence County on the ground, Cody Crum rushed 11 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

Behind Crum in Lawrence County’s offensive attack, Ryan Marcum rushed 10 times for 123 yards and one touchdown.

Aiding Lawrence County on the ground, Dylan Ferguson rushed 12 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Ferguson is Lawrence County’s top rusher in the 2022 high school football season.

Pacing the Bulldogs through the air, Talan Pollock completed three of four passes for 69 yards and one touchdown.

Logan Ratliff hauled in two receptions for 46 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Following Ratliff, Kaden Gillispie reeled in a 23-yard reception for Class 3A, District 8 leader Lawrence County.

Delivering defensively for the Bulldogs, Pollock recorded an interception.

Pacing the Bulldogs on special teams, kicker Logan Southers connected on seven-of-seven PAT attempts.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Raceland for a regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 28.
