Bulldogs outlast Rams in overtime, 88-87

LOUISA — Lawrence County outlasted Raceland 88-87 in overtime in a boys’ high school basketball regular season finale on Thursday, Feb. 22.

After registering the win, Lawrence County improved to 22-6.

Following the loss, Raceland dropped to 16-14.

The Bulldogs and Rams swapped leads throughout the regular season finale.

Andrew Bloomfield scored a career-high 38 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and distributed eight assists to lead Lawrence County to the win. Bloomfield made 18 of 23 free throw attempts.

Following Bloomfield in Lawrence County’s scoring column, Gunnar Woods drained six three-point field goals and netted 23 points.

Accompanying Bloomfield and Woods in double figures for Lawrence County, Hayden Perry netted 15 points.

Contributing to the win, Blake Marcum (six points), Luke Fetherolf (five points) and Logan Ratliff (one point) were Lawrence County’s other scorers.

Lawrence County 72.4 shot percent (21-of-29) from the free throw line.

Raceland shot 50 percent (34-of-68) from the field. The Rams shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from three-point range.

Raceland shot 66.7 percent (four-of-six) from the free throw line.

Christian Large scored 29 points to lead the Rams. Large made seven of nine three-point field goal attempts.

Delivering a double-double for Raceland, Connor Thacker scored 24 points and secured 12 rebounds.

Accompanying Large and Thacker in double figures for Raceland, Jonah Arnett posted 11 points.

Finishing in single digits. Parker Ison (eight points), Charles Welch (six points), Conner Sutton (six points), Holden Topping (two points) and Eli Caines (one point) were Raceland’s other scorers.

The Bulldogs beat former 16th Region rival Raceland for the second time in the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season. Former 15th Region champion Lawrence County notched its seventh win in 10 games.
