HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Visiting Lawrence County outlasted Huntington (W.Va.) 5-4 in a high school baseball game on Friday, March 18, moving to 3-0 on the young season.

Battling back from behind to claim the win, Lawrence County plated three runs in the top half of the seventh inning.

Bryce Blevins, a Marshall University signee, picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Blevins pitched six innings, giving up five hits while recording nine strikeouts.

Jake Derifield closed out the game on the mound for Lawrence County and recorded the save. Derifield pitched one inning, allowing one hit.

Blue Fletcher and Nick Collinsworth combined to pace Lawrence County at the plate, providing two hits apiece.

Blevins, Will Lafferty and Austin Collinsworth each contributed one hit for the Bulldogs.

Lafferty and Austin Collinsworth each drove in one run as Lawrence County held on to win.

Nick Collinsworth paced Lawrence County on the basepaths, scoring two runs.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host familiar foe Huntington on Wednesday, April 27.
