LOUISA — Lawrence County outlasted visiting Betsy Layne 76-73 in overtime in a 58th District boys' basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
Trenton Adkins drained a three-point field goal from 25 feet to lead Lawrence County to the district win.
Lawrence County (16-3) shot 45.6 percent (31 of 68) from the field in the emotional victory. The Bulldogs shot 37.9 percent (11 of 29) from three-point range.
Lawrence County connected on three of six free-throw attempts.
Adkins recorded a double-double to lead Lawrence County to the district win, scoring 29 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Along with Adkins reaching double figures for the Bulldogs, Anthony Johnson scored 23 points and Cody Maynard netted 11 points.
Betsy Layne (12-5) shot 44.6 percent (25 of 56) from the field in its overtime loss. The Bobcats shot 47.4 percent (nine of 19) from three-point range.
Betsy Layne shot 73.7 percent (14 of 19) from the free throw line.
Jordan Frazier scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Bobcats. Second in scoring for Betsy Layne, Brady Robinson netted 16 points. Logging a double-double for the Bobcats, Chase Mims scored 13 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Betsy Layne for another 58th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 4.
Lawrence County 73, Floyd Central 52
Cody Maynard (18 points), Trenton Adkins (16 points), Andrew Bloomfield (11 points), Anthony Johnson (10 points) and Will Lafferty (10 points) combined to lead Lawrence County over visiting Floyd Central 73-52 in a 58th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 21.
Lawrence County shot 45.9 percent (28 of 61) from the field in the district win. The Bulldogs connected on five of 17 three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County shot 66.7 percent (12 of 18) from the free-throw line.
